As any casual observers of the Quebec election know, that's a phrase that André Boisclair (Leader of one of the competitive parties in the province) used the other day to describe Asian students from his days at Harvard. The other day in the paper, a letter ran which referred to Muslims as a "race". I've seen this frequently, and with respect to Jews, as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that I can become a Jew or convert to Islam, but I have no hope of ever becoming black. Why do so many people use the word race incorrectly?

Newspapers ought to run more corrections like this. From the front page of the Lexington (Kentucky) Herald-Leader on Sunday:

CLARIFICATION: It has come to the editor's attention that the Herald-Leader neglected to cover the civil rights movement. We regret the omission.

So, I'm listening to this Air America Radio thingy. I don't think this is going to work at all, but I'll still root for them. If anything, the hosts here are way cooler than anyone you'll find on the right-wing shows. Many of them don't know a damn thing about radio, though...
