This entry is my Frankenstein. Taken from bits and pieces of other entries I've had in semagic for way too long with a few obvious exceptions.
I did a search on LJ for folks who live in Harlem and 12 journals came up. 1 journal called "yomamma" and FOUR Alicia Keys journals! =/ First off, didn't she live in Hell's Kitchen not Harlem? Secondly.... I mean seriously, do we need 5 Alicia Keys?!
Speaking of Alicia, why is Mos Def lookin so extra tasty in that video?
So many people on my friends list are graduating this semester. And I think a lot of others will be graduating next semester. I need to make an "I graduated college and all I got was this lousy degree" Tshirt. Congrats to all of you!
Here's something I found about my mother
So we're watching Soul Train [Who the hell is the host? He looks even more corny than Shemar.] and my mother just blurts out, "I bet they all stink when this is over." lol The hell? Only my mother would even think of something like that.
Then the host is dancing with some girl and he's bent down so that his face is centimeters away from her derriere. My mother says, "She should fart right in his face." lol
That woman is mad. I love her so much.
My monitor went postal on me last week and I went on ebay and bought another one because I'm impatient and it was cheap. But now the original one works perfectly again. So I guess I'll be selling that new one as soon as it gets here.
LJ is getting rid of the need of invite codes to make a new journal. And they're going to transfer old invite codes to paid time. So that covers my christmas list for my lj friends. =p
So Q was talking to me about some song Jay-Z made on the Black Album. I don't know the name, but she sent me the lyrics from it.
[Verse Two]
The music business hate me
Cause the industry ain't make me
Hustlers and boosters embrace me
And the music i be makin
I dumb down for my audience
And double my dollars
They criticize me for it
Yet they all yell "Holla"
If skills sold
Truth be told
I'd probably be
Lyrically
Talib Kweli
Truthfully
I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
(But i did five Mil)
I ain't been rhymin like Common Sense
When your sense got that much in common
And you been hustlin since
Your inception
Fuck perception
Go with what makes sense
Since
I know what I'm up against
We as rappers must decide what's most impor-tant
And i can't help the poor if I'm one of them
So i got rich and gave back
To me that's the win, win
The next time you see the homie and his rims spin
Just know my mind is workin just like them
(The rims that is)
Now her reaction to this was something along the lines of "I feel his gangsta." =/ Personally I'm insulted and I feel cheated. I've enjoyed the "dumbed down" music, I will admit that. But the fact that he could do more and would do it if it weren't for money just disgusts me. And if that's the case I'm glad he's not rhyming anymore. Any other thoughts?
