this is very true. many women don't know the dangers of douching. i was lucky enough to have a really good gynecologist when i was about 16 who told me to cut it out. she gave me some reading material that i passed along to my friends. i don't know how many took heed, since most like to believe the hype that douching equals cleanliness.

it may be that lower income women have less access to medical help/adivce and perhaps think that douching will avoid a trip to the doctor. we have been misled about a whole lot regarding our bodies, so it's just a matter of getting information out to people who wouldn't have gotten it otherwise.

That's probably the case. And it's really unfortunate. I remember a woman in my women studies class a while ago trying to tell us something about pads. I think she said she found out they put bleach in them or something to that nature. It's so sad that the things that we use thinking we're helping ourselves are the very things hurting us.

Especially when, not too long ago, people were saying Tampons are dangerous and felt pads were the safest way to go. But now THEY'RE not all that safe.. Damn, the things we go through in life.... If I hear another man complain about ANYthing, I'm liable to knock the shit out of him.

That and I remember a while back (not too long ago, maybe like 6 months ago) I was conversing with a few female friends of mine and 98% of them believed that douching helps protect you from STDs and pregnancy by (and I kid you not) washing out the sperm and viruses. Most of these girls don't have a good gyno to tell them that things like this are nonsense and hold no water. Very interesting subject nonetheless.
