My psychological is all that

(Don't try to understand the title. It makes no sense)

After today my PHSB prof became my new idol. Wonder woman is still the ish, but she has to take a bit of a back seat for this chick. My girl has 6 (did you catch that? SIX!) degrees. She doubled up each time. I don't want six degrees, but I can do nothing but respect that kind of determination. Plus she's living out my dream (like most of my psych. profs) she has her private practice while teaching a class in a subject she loves. That's just what I want to do. The class I can kinda take or leave, but it'd be cool. And last week she told us she came to a school Halloween party (like 20 or so years ago) as a dominatrix. LOL She said she had a line of people who wanted her to use her whip on them since they'd never seen anything like that before. She wouldn't name any names though. Just said it was some very conservative professors. Hmmmm....

We watched "The Miracle of Life" today. Funny I remember it a lot differently from the last time I saw it a good 6 years ago. I remember her screaming, but this time she seemed really calm. That kid still looked big though. And it still looked painful whether she showed it or not.

I read some really interesting things in my book today. There's a section on douching that was fascinating. First off, in a study done of 8,450 women, it was found that 37% douched regularly. But low income women and women of color were 66% more likely to do it regularly than white, higher income women. Now a lot can be speculated from that. A rep from the Nat'l Black Women's Health Project guessed that it was because of the negative sexual stereotypes of black women. Hmmmm... I dunno. Y'all have any guesses?

But before you go off and think something silly like white women are more stink than us, realize that douching is actually unhealthy. I'd heard a while ago that is wasn't conducive because our vaginas have natural cleansing mechanisms and douching only inhibits them and makes us more dry by washing away our natural lubricants, but the books says it's straight up unhealthy. It forces bacteria up into the uterus which increases the risk of vaginal and uterine infections. And women who douche more than 3 times a month are four times more likely to get pelvic inflammatory disease. They also have the same higher risk for an ectopic pregnancy. Makes you wanna sue Massengill, don't it?
