There was a... strangeness, in the air, like the feeling that tingles on the tip of your nose during summer when the sky rumbles with heat lightning, or the hair-raising, eye-watering effect of a Tesla coil. It drew Yorick outside his room, outside his apartment, down the steps and through the door to the courtyard in front of Midgard.
He was keeping one eye on the overhanging clouds, as most people seemed to be doing, wondering if they were the cause of this strange sensation in the air; but occasionally he would glance down and look at the people near him, and noticed that they seemed to be Flux-gaters too. He drew nearer to one bystander, a small, slender woman-- or possibly, given the lack of tits and ass, a very young boy-- and felt her reach out and grab his wrist with a strong hand.
She must have been pretty nervous. He sympathized, his own emotions becoming edgier and edgier as the nonexistent storm roiling at the edge of his senses reached its crescendo. He felt the the grip on his arm tighten to the point of almost cutting off his circulation, and then, as suddenly as it had started ,the strange feeling in the air stopped-- took something with it-- and the grip on his arm slackened but did not let go.
Yorick waited for a second, wondering if the girl would notice she was clinging to him; when she did not, he turned to smile down at her and said, as politely as he could, "Y'know, I think it's over. You can probably let go of my hand now."
