gizmod is a daemon for .. well .. gizmos in the various *nix's. It's primary use (for me) is for the griffin powermate, a very neat little device that is a very smooth scrolling wheel. Imagine a device that's like the best stereo knob ever, it's that, and it's USB, and you can configure what you want it to do when you scroll fast, scroll slow, press it down quickly, hold it down, hold it down and turn, etc, etc, etc.
ANYWAY! Today I noticed it wasn't working like it should. It turns out that it won't work unless there's a mouse plugged into the machine -- I had previously been using synergy to service my mouse stuff to there, but then it died (not unexpected) and I plugged a spare mouse in and suddenly the powermate starts working again...
..anyway, useless weird bug noted.
