I just saw a woman here at my office wearing a pretty beaded Indian blouse. She said she got it at Old Navy, of all places. Apparently Indian clothes are popular now! I'll have to break into my collection of Indian blouses and skirts and start wearing them to work. I doubt the popularity of Indian clothes extends to saris, however. Too bad.

I went to the Diwali festival at the Sri Sai Baba Temple Friday night. Before I went I did a little research on Diwali. Apparently this festival of lights is the most popular festival in India. Last night I went to the Sri Sai Baba Temple for bhajans. It was my second time there. I'm almost always really shy around new groups of people, but they have been really friendly and welcoming to me. The temple is in an old store in a former mall. It is becoming increasingly obvious to me that as soon as I have more time (January), I am going to have to learn Indian dance. I could do Egyptian style bellydance to this song, but it really wants Indian.

I committed to dance in one of our studio parties tonight. Problem is, I haven't been practicing anything, so I have no idea what to dance to. All day I have been listening to various cd's trying to decide what I'm in the mood to dance to. My meditation class has begun reading a translation of the Mahabharata, the ancient Indian epic poem. Last week my meditation teacher gave us about 30 photocopied pages from the translation she is using, which hadn't yet arrived from India.
