rfunk and I drove down to Cincinnati late Saturday afternoon, and spent the evening catching up with
lillassea and
_boy_. This was my first opportunity to see their new abode, the first floor of a 100 year old house they call "Red House".
lillassea and
_boy_ always seem to find places with tons of character, and Red House is no exception, with pocket doors, hardwood floors, and pretty green tiles around the fireplace.
Sunday afternoon we gathered with several more of their friends and
lillassea's brother to watch the haunting
Picnic at Hanging Rock. Even though most of us had never met before, there was plenty of relaxed, intelligent, interesting conversation, and the afternoon passed very pleasantly.
rfunk and I ended up staying for dinner and didn't get home until midnight.
rfunk drove us home, while I slept in the car. (I had driven down, and was worried, rightly as it turns out, that my shoulders and upper back would end up being sore from the two hours of driving. I'm a bit sore, but it's not too bad. I'm sure I'd be regretting it if I had driven back, though.)
I think the cats missed us. Ki and Barney mostly missed being fed, as I had put them outside for the day. (Ki can get into the automatic feeder and will eat all of Patches food within minutes, if he is allowed to. Besides, they know how to hunt.) Patches was apparently pretty traumatized by being alone for 32 hours. She lodged herself under our bed and would not come out. At regular intervals she let out a (loud) pitiful anguished cry, but still refused to come out from under the bed so we could comfort her.
rfunk finally had to drag her out and plop her onto the bed, where she purred and seemed quite content.
Yesterday evening I met up with my friend E, who I haven't seen in over a year. E and I were in massage school together, and she is also a fellow yogi. I feel like I can tell her anything. It was great catching up with what has been going on in our lives over the past year.
I sure have some bright, brilliant, interesting friends!
