Natural order
Driving back from the grocery store I passed a raccoon on the side of the country road, next to a field. I slowed down to take a look. He turned and looked back at me with tired, dazed eyes. Other than that he did not move. Overhead, two birds circled. Whether ill or injured, I don't know, but that animal is not long for this world.
