Just like summer should be

I sold the table for $25! Now my dance room as much more room to it! And yes, I've danced in the space.

Yesterday was a really nice day. I brought a few things out to the yard sale around 10 am, and then sat out with my neighbors until late morning, watching the stream of customers, making idle conversation, and enjoying the leisure. The weather was great--bright sun and warm, but not hot.

Then I drove out to the house of a casual friend. I met her about a year ago through Middle Eastern dance events. (We shared a hotel room for the seminar that Mahmoud Reda gave in Cincinnati last year. That was only my second seminar, and I could NOT keep up with the choreography. It kicked my butt!) She's interested in learning about human anatomy, and I have an extra anatomy and physiology textbook that I picked up at a yard sale about 5 years ago. We've been trying for several months to find a time when we were both free so I could drop it off, and this was it.

I hadn't meant to stay for a long visit, but we ended up chatting amiably on her front porch swing for about three hours. She has two children under the age of three, and she said it was nice to stretch her adult conversation muscles. Both her and her husband are interested in being guinea pigs to help me practice my massage skills. Now that I've decided to take a six month break from the massage technique classes, I'll need to keep up practicing what I've learned. They both have experience with getting professional massages, so they will be able to tell me if what I'm doing feels right. AND they are willing to drive to my place, so that I don't have to lug my table across town.

On the way home I grabbed a quick, small meal at Taco Bell, which I consumed while reading my lj friends page.

I don't listen to A Prairie Home Companion every week, but I did catch Garrison Keillor's monologue last night. It was particularly funny. Playing off the audience's reaction, he extemporized about the importance of home made potato salad over store bought, and the correct way to make potato salad. I loved the interplay with the audience, which was particularly lively.

It was a great day. A nice change from my too frequent reclusivity. A day just like summer should be.

summer, seasons, being social, blessings
