I had my mom's mastiff, Dharma, put down this morning. Before my parents would get home.
She's had a history of aggression and attacking the other dogs. She attacked Nyssa this morning and gave her a nasty nasty bite that went through her thigh. It was unprovoked. My parents are stupid and would wait until she killed one of the smaller dogs or until a person got bitten trying to break her off. The office wouldn't do it without permission from my parents of course, but it's been talked about previously. I knew it would be easier on my mom if she was just gone before they got home.
I feel so terrible. So heartless. It was a cold heartless decision that nobody wanted to make and I guess it was me that had to make it. I stayed with her to the end. She just didn't know better. But that is what made her so dangerous. God I hope I made the right decision.
