Oh, but thank God for the Irish!

I seem to be quite popular at work. Maybe it's just because my cube is right off the elevator and people are forced to walk right by me all day, but I like to think otherwise. There is one kind gentleman, about my age, that shares a cube wall with me. He has been stopping by to chat quite a bit. He seems nice, but it's also a little odd how nice he's being. Apparently a lot of his friends are getting married and are too busy to hang out much, so I guess he's just looking for a friend. He asked me if I want to go to the Sox/Twins game in a couple of weeks. Keep in mind, I just met him yesterday. So why is he so anxious to be my friend? As I told Juli, I don't know if you heard, but I'm pretty awesome. Meanwhile, I've had a couple of other people stop by to hang out by my cube and then someone asked me why there were always people hanging out. I dunno? They must sense the awesome.

It's odd. I'm actually trying to get work done, too. Maybe the quiet and mysterious thing is working out for me.

As for the actual work... It's going well. My boss is very impressed on how quickly I've picked up on how to use the AIX editor they use. AIX is apparently a version of UNIX, but it seems to me that it's just a more annoying version of DOS. Anyways, I'm okay at it, and I think I'll be able to make my way through this project okay. I don't remember if I mentioned this last night, but my manager made an offhand remark about keeping me on the payroll while I'm in Chicago if I do some work from home. That would be amazing because 1) I can work from home and 2) It probably pays at least twice as much as any job I could get on campus. Perhaps my days as a Union dork are really at an end... then again, perhaps not. Only time will tell, but keep your fingers crossed.

I found some kickass looking guitar shops around the area on the internet. I plan on going to check them out and play some guitars that I can't really afford. Sadly, the traffic to get from where I work to St. Paul apparently is terrible and I won't be able to make it there before closing time. I guess it will have to wait for the weekend. Speaking of the weekend. I'm gonna try to go see Minus the Bear on Friday night. It's about time I saw those guys.

Lastly, I watched this remake of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone last week and just about died laughing. Someone just re-wrote and narrated the movie. You should check it out. Download the mp3's here http://www.illegal-art.org/video/wizard.html

and here's a hilarioius clip
