Baroness was outstanding last night. Giese and I actually bumped into John Baizley who was wandering the bar scene. Concert goers were already taking photographs with him using their phones, and I could tell that he was going to be walking towards us at any moment. Built up all my strength and stopped him with a motion from my hand saying, "Hey Baizley! It's good to meet you! We're both really huge fans!" to which he seemed rather confused by what I said since it was rather jumbled up mixed with the ecstasy of meeting a musical/artist genius. He shook both of our hands and said, "Oh okay! My name is John!" As if we were morons. Giese and I were so nervous about seeing Baizley in person we were completely a loss for words, even though there were hundreds of different things I wanted to talk to him about! He gave us a few seconds to say anything we needed to say and then meandered off toward one of the back stages to get ready for his performance. Wow. I haven't felt my heart fluctuate this much since community college! Baroness got on the stage and they blew down the fucking walls. They played each song with magnificent precision whilst also experimenting and improvising the structures of their already radiant songs. Someone from the crowd tried to throw a water bottle full of water at them but missed. In response to this Baizley replied, "Careful now!" after belting out the proper lyrics. He then rolled his shoulders around at the guy who had thrown the bottle whilst playing the guitar with overconfidence. He then gave the guy the middle finger to seal the deal. Giese and I were laughing our heads off! And yes they did perform the song "Isak" and damn I wish that tune would have gone on forever. It was the perfect blend of Heineken, acetaminophen and reckless melancholy. Oh and Meshuggah was great too. I had seen them live a few years ago, but this was Giese's first time. He definitely seemed to enjoy himself thoroughly. We both vowed that we would pursue the attendance of more stoner metal performances amongst the names of: Intronaut (I saw these guys with TOOL but Giese didn't join me), Kylesa, and possibly even Torche sometime down the road.
I've been playing some Amnesia as of late as well as playing some of the SCP content that's out there as well. If you ever do decide to venture down the SCP route,
I would highly recommend reading through the SCP wiki first, especially the
article on SCP-173. Then when you're good and ready and have all the lights turned out, be sure to check out the vid below. (And whatever you do, don't blink!)
Gotta love pewdiepie and his Swedish shenanigans! He's got some good Amnesia and Facade playthroughs as well. Oh man- and just one more week until Lady in Black will be available on netflix. So exciting! I totally want to take a bunch of my horror buds out to see that one but our local theaters don't really keep featured films around for very long.
The weather is brilliantly cold today. Quite preferable during the summertime. I want to go out and take some photographs of tree knots. But I've got so many busybody chores to accomplish first! There is going to be a lot of traveling coming up this weekend so I'll try to take some pictures during THOSE journeys. But yeah- a lot of traveling coming up. I'll definitely be doing a lot of reading but probably not a large amount of writing until I get an opportunity to sit down and digest everything that is happening around me.
