Wish Bellbottoms Were Still In Style ...?

Inside a realm where time is nothing and yet it is everything.

So I got my hands on a set-list for this years Baroness tour.

"A Horse Called Golgotha"
Pretty standard Baroness song. This was their launch pad tune that generated a ton of excitement for the Blue Record being released back in 2008. Hell it was even released as its own single one year later. A lot of the band's catchy guitar work and beckoning hooks can easily be heard in this song. Definitely a people pleaser with plenty of ear candy. Catchy chorus. Catchy beats. Not my favorite in the long list of choices Baroness could have gone with, but hey you gotta satisfy your fan club somehow. It's got a killer guitar solo though. :/

"March to the Sea"
Brand new song coming off their Yellow/Green Record. Probably to give a taste from the public. Smart thinking here. From the footage that I have seen- it seems like a song full of energy and great vocal meshing. Fast and furious. Looking forward to hearing how this one will turn out at the HoB.

"Steel That Sleeps the Eye"
GREAT FUCKING SONG. I was actually listening to this song on my way to picking up my bicycle not too long ago wondering if they would actually perform this one live. It's progressive. Has some great acoustic guitar work. Very memorable lyrics. And a straightforward hit to the third eye if you were to just zone out when listening to the sensational drums. Fluctuating. Taking the listener on a journey. I'm REALLY looking forward to hearing how this one turns out live!

"Swollen and Halo"
Probably the best song off the Blue Record. This was a top of the line choice for Baroness to choose for performing on stage. Giese and I are probably going to hit the mosh pit for this one!

"The Gnashing"
Boring forgettable mostly instrumental of a song. I'll probably be getting a beer while they perform this one.

"Take My Bones Away"
Another new song from their Yellow/Green Record. I can't form a serious opinion on this one yet. It seems interesting, but I sure as hell wish there was a promotional studio release of this song for me to enjoy it. I like how crunchy the guitars get in the middle and the soaring dual solos toward the end. My favorite part of the song has to be the atmospheric jive that Baizley goes into at the end with his guitar. But .... why couldn't the entire song have been built around that?!

"The Sweetest Curse"
When I think of the Blue Record. This song immediately comes to mind. It's their first real song that strengthens the pressure just right and reminds the listener what they just got themselves into. Hard hitter. Outstanding lyrics. I can't wait to see Baizley and Peter Adams REALLY, REALLY team up against this song both with their trading off vocals and also steady harmonious guitar work. I would have preferred if they played this song earlier in the show to get everyone's energy sky rocketing. But hey what do I know? Maybe this one was better left for the end. Especially since the last song will be motherfucking:

"ISAK"
This is it. The magnum opus of Baroness. The very reason why I fell back in love with their Red Record. The very reason why my musical tastes suddenly shifted during the winter-spring period. This song is just plain out badassery all over. You can't get any more sludge heavy than this tune. I'll be shouting every single damn lyric for this song right at the stage. AND I DO HOPE that Baizley does a very, very, very long toneless amount of guitar plucking to build this sucker up from the start and get the crowd hollering. I'm a little surprised that this is going to be their last song for the night. But you know what? What a hell of a way to end a show! Can't wait! Overall, I wish Baroness would be showing off their Red Record songs more than they will be their Blue Record. This however is my own personal bias since I make love to the Red Record every single day that I'm breathing.

Effing "Prometheus" in just one more month! I've been looking forward to this film for the past three years maybe longer! After all "Alien" is one of my top four favorite movies of all time! So if Ridley Scott is going to do a prequel to such a fascinating touchdown- I say he has my complete and utter attention! Hopefully he won't 'Lucas' it up. But I have great faith (thank you trailer) that it will meet all my expectations!

I... I... I just discovered a childhood movie that I used to watch ALL THE TIME when I was a kid. It was so trippy yet stellar at the same time! It's a 1973 cartoon called "Fantastic Planet" an animated French film. This movie was absolutely life changing for me back then. And I can't wait to re-watch it sometime this week. Holy shit. I used to wonder for years what this film was called and where it disappeared off to. Thank you netflix. :D

I'm trying to discover some ways to reintegrate myself back into the dragon community. I feel like I've fallen out of place a while back. Plus let's be honest- I'm a bit of an oldie. Back in the day it used to be through draconics, AIM, cons, and LJ communities. But nowadays everyone seems to be using FA, FN, Yiff sites, Pounced, etc. Not my cup of tea. I'm considering the idea of branching off into some underground sites and do some digging. But I'm also open to suggestions if anyone has any. Makes me miss my old Dragon RP group that was assembled years ago.
