The standard line to use is "well, now they're in a better place." They're actually not. They're not in any place, and that's precisely what makes it better. it is Utopia (no place). Elias is nowhere now.. nowhere physical anyway... and the fact that he's not attached to his physical body makes it a better Utopia that he's in.. or rather that he's existing/experiencing.
I've felt like gathering up all my memories of him into a mental box that I can put away for safe keeping in some corner of my mind.
i want to say sometimes things happen in life that you wouldn't expect, but it seems most things that happen in life are unexpected. maybe sometimes things happen in life that we do expect. sometimes. maybe it's about half and half...
here is a prayer for Elias, Nana, Uncle Chuck, Baba Khalil, Muhammad, and all that have left their physical existence in the past few years...
O my God! O Thou forgiver of sins, bestower of gifts, dispeller of afflictions! Verily I beseech Thee to forgive the sins of such as have abandoned the physical garment and have ascended to the spiritual world. O my Lord! Purify them from trespasses, dispel their sorrows and change their darkness into light. Cause them to enter the garden of happiness, cleanse them with the most pure water and grant them to behold Thy splendors on the loftiest mount.
