I hate it when I haven’t posted in a few days; too much to recap and there’s always something forgotten. Maybe I’m getting old or at least more gray. Maybe all those gray hairs are ruining my memory. It’s nice though to forget things every now and then especially when people remind you that you’ve forgotten something they needed you to do.
The bread from
Jaden’s Steamy Kitchen was excellent. Kylea and I started it on Tuesday and left it for Jessica to finish Wednesday morning. She admitted that she accidentally over-baked it which caused a slight burning on the crust but it was exactly as described on Jaden’s website. Try it, you can find it
here. Jessica mentioned that she’d like to put a little sugar in it next time to see if that’ll sweeten it up. She did admit that it makes excellent toast and I found that slicing it open and spreading some creamy butter on it is just as good.
Wednesday morning I got a call from my boss just before leaving home to take Tyler and Kylea to school. It’s not unlike him to call me before 8 it was just unexpected as I just returned from my mini-vacation. “When are you going to be in,” he asked. I responded, “8:20 to 8:25. Why? What’s going on?” His quick response caused me some discomfort, “Just see me when you get in; we need to talk.” All the blood in my body pooled to my feet. The first thought was something completely stupid: a problem that occurred on Tuesday that I couldn’t take care of (being that I was on vacation) and I thought the regional director called up the big-big boss and complained about me which in turn was getting me written up or something like that. I called my boss back and asked him for more information and he wouldn’t provide it. The blood in my feet was almost numbing and both Tyler and Kylea knew something was wrong and kept quiet. I drove them to school.
Upon my arrival I immediately headed for my boss’s office, knocked twice, opened the door and saw my boss’s boss standing in there without my boss present. I cheerfully and pleasantly said good morning, closed the door, turned around and headed to my office. My boss walked around the corner and told me to follow. I stepped back into his office and sat down. He asked me to do a few tasks and sent me on my way. I honestly thought I was in trouble but I wasn’t. The whole purpose for everything Wednesday I can’t elaborate on but I can say that one person resigned. It’s better for the company and better for a friend of mine who is looking for a better job with better defined responsibilities (if life hands you a lemon make lemonade).
Thursday and Friday were pretty regular with normal work, lots of meetings, and nothing overly exciting except for the usual problems. The family has been wonderful with Tyler and Kylea being super helpful and wonderful as always. I must laugh at Tyler especially for Friday morning. He came downstairs to finish getting ready for school and he just dragged. Every little thing took two or three times longer and it was like watching molasses being poured out of a jar. My children are doing fantastic in school and I’m quite proud of them. Tyler’s been doing much better in reading, paying attention, and working independently. Kylea’s the top student in her class and I can’t ask for anything more. I’ve got a good feeling that by the end of December Tyler will be on par with the top-most students in his class.
I have to laugh at my financial situation. Somehow I went from $700 left-over after getting paid to just over $300 and for a change I know why. Now I just need to figure how I’m to live on $300 for the next two weeks. Oh well, that’s life. Today we’re going to pick up another chicken or two, do some grocery shopping, watch the
Colorado Rockies sweep the
Philadelphia Phillies, and prepare ourselves for a Sunday filled with sport, fun, and food.
