Bittersweet
Two days ago, The Empire Diner served its last meal at midnight. The iconic Chelsea, New York eatery lost its lease and was forced to shut down, but they're looking for a new location. It was a favorite restaurant of celebrities like Madonna and Steven Spielberg, and one of the places I wanted to visit when I went to New York City. *sigh*
The diner's recognizable as a filming location for movies, including Men in Black and Men in Black II. If I'm not mistaken, it was also the location for several scenes in Igby Goes Down (in particular, the scene where Igby and Sookie share a sundae and he discusses what he wants to do with his life).
