Am in a deep and profound fug of extreme sleep deprivation and work stress at the moment (not a winning combo). But two things that happened this morning, just as I was leaving for work, are shining a happy light over everything.
**TODO is now well over six months old (update on its way RSN as soon as I have half an hour to write it ... Ok, maybe not that soon, realistically), and is getting well in to interacting with people and doing the pre/babbling conversational noises thing. He was getting tired, so his mother was carrying him in her arms up the stairs to bed for a nap as I was coming down. I kissed his head and said "Bye bye, little **TODO, sleep well", and he looked at me, and said sleepily and softly, "Dad".
(Ok, it was just a babble/gurgle, and it required the ear of faith to interpret it so, but still.)
And then I went downstairs and said goodbye to **FIXME, who was sitting having his breakfast. As I was walking to the door, he called out, "Have a good day at work Daddy".
So that's what I am trying to do.
