Football training went well last night. I had 21 of my 25 players there and I knew exactly where my missing four were. The boys are so eager to get back into training that there wasn’t a single incident of silly behavior *yay* I must say, it was good to see them again! Some of them (my own son included) have grown so much since the end of last season! They are concerned about getting a ‘good’ coach, but I have assured them that it won’t be a problem *crosses fingers*
The equipment is slowly getting sorted. The Junior Football Director has done a stock take of everything that was returned last year, and allocated each team equipment, so all I have to do is chase up the missing stuff *oh joy* Part of the missing equipment happens to be my team’s footballs, so I had to call the ex-coach this morning - he didn’t answer and I left a message, but I haven’t heard back from him yet. I’m hoping he won’t be difficult.
So hubby bought himself a 41 foot trailer on Monday for $10,000 and he thought it would take another $5,000 to fix up plus new tires (about $3,500 - there’s 8 or 10 of them from memory). Our tire guy is hunting up some second-hand tires for us (they’ve apparently only got 30% wear, so they’re perfect for a trailer). We got the quote for the bodywork on the trailer this morning - $10,000 *ouch* The steel alone is going to cost over $4,000! Hubby was really annoyed at himself for underestimating the cost so badly *sigh* Anyway, I told him to go ahead and get it done, because as it is it’s a very expensive unusable trailer, and when it’s done it should be worth more than the total cost *crosses fingers* I weighed up the cost of a brand new trailer ($55,000+) against the cost of getting this one looking like new and decided it was definitely the better option.
I also tackled the first quarter tax report and the accreditation report this morning - both have now been sent to the respective government departments! Hubby is working - he called in for a ‘social’ visit after he dropped the trailer off at the bodybuilders and was asked to work *yay* It’s been quiet everywhere, so this is good!
It’s actually rainy today and quite cool - so cool I had to break out the sweat pants and I’m thinking about finding my slippers! It’s very different to what it has been; even yesterday we were running around in shorts and tanktops after dark!
