This is ridiculous! The water heater got swamped again last night, resulting in yet another cold shower. That is three times in two days. If I could jack the stupid thing up off the ground, I'd do it, but the water pipes are as high as they can go--I'd have to cut all of them and attempt to refit them. I suspect my Plumbing Fu is weak, so I should hire someone to deal with it.
ARRRRGHHHH!
Each trip to the crawlspace this week has been increasingly treacherous. All the runoff from the road and yard has washed away the grass, and the slope down the hill is now mostly bare dirt mud. At the bottom of the hill, a marsh has formed and is rapidly expanding.
First World Problem, but a problem, nonetheless.
Just To Annoy Me Further
The new vehicle's audio system decided to randomly stop working. I find the situation infuriating. I know it is a software problem, and as an IS/IT professional with two degrees in computer science and decades of experience, I am APPALLED that they released a system that is so flaky. The company should be embarrassed.
I had trouble off and on with the audio system during the winter, but it seemed to stabilize this spring following a software upgrade. Now it is misbehaving again--just as a new software upgrade is announced? That seems awfully suspicious to me. The secondarily annoying thing is that I have to sit in the vehicle for about two hours to let the upgrade occur (the keys being in an unoccupied car is simply begging for trouble), so I burn two gallons of gasoline, and essentially trash the fuel economy. Bet they didn't account for THAT in the CAFE numbers.
Grumble. First World Problem.
Traffic was a bit gummed up. I guess it is Back-From-Vacation-Speeders-Are-Easy-Pickings or We-Need-Revenue week because the State Troopers were VERY VISIBLE this morning.
Wasn't the Exterminator Just Here?
The pest control dude visited Ealdercote for our periodic "Pest Control" activities. I think the rain has undone his work. Last night, two rather large roach-like things were discovered in the cats' bathroom. I got one with the vacuum cleaner, and the second one was dispatched with extreme prejudice via a shoe. I'm guessing the flooding in the yard sent them packing for drier climes.
And to make matters worse, he found a shed snake skin in my workshop loft. Theoretically the snake isn't living in the shop, it just felt safe enough to shed its skin there. Yeah. That really encourages me to spend time in my workshop.... I really should clean that place out--it is a really large junk room at the moment, and working down there is a pain.
Actually, the pests are more Universal Problems, not just a First World Problem.
Yoga Fu
Ignatius and Josie think that if the Momma is doing yoga, they should participate. Laying down on the Momma is not helping, though. This morning, I was amused to watch as Josie flopped down next to my sweetie in an almost mirror pose. Ignatius, currently banished from the pillows, made sure to lay down on the Momma's hair while she was on the floor.
