Walk Like an Egyptian

Dec 04, 2012 09:42

I decided to rearrange a few more pictures last night. A long-ago gift has been languishing in the stack of framed art in the craft room. It is the only one of our faux papyrus Egyptian-themed images that didn't have a place to hang. After taking a few measurements, I realized I could rearrange the ones currently in the front hall and have a place for the really nice one.

ealdthryth is thrilled. We have more artwork on the walls, and her addiction to change has been sated for the moment. Now the front hall is completely decorated with these faux papyrus things. At one point, we discussed painting murals on the hall walls, joking that I should paint jedd pillars on the walls every few feet and hieroglyphs on the blank wall spaces between them. If I wanted to go all out, I could make some door veneer/covering to make them look like mastabas' false doors. There is a company called Fantasy Factory LLC that does something like this, and it is definitely an intriguing notion.

Newsletter Ahead

I decided to get an early start on January's newsletter and got the template from the outgoing editor. It was a great newsletter during his tenure, and it had a lot of great contributions from the club members. People tend to forget that it isn't just the editor who makes the newsletter.... BUT! Our previous editor is also an architect, and he put together a lot of great graphics that really spiffed up the newsletter. I'll keep the front page format as is, because "it ain't broke".

I poked through my own pictures to provide a little content and considered using some of the scanned slides I have from a late member's collection. One of the things I noted about the newsletter is that all the photos are very recent, so it really is intended to include NEWs, not just articles reminiscing about olds. :)

Ded of Teh Kyoot Fu

I arrived home last night to find AElf' snoozing on the top of "her" tower, and Ignatius overflowing the sides of middle tier. They were adorable!

Meanie Fu

I don't care who started it, but while reading email yesterday evening, Josie snuck under my legs by the ottoman, stalked on the other side by Ignatius. I watched in horror as Ignatius swatted Josie on the head multiple times. WHAP! WHAP! WHAP! WHAP! No hissing, just flattened ears and flailing paws. What's up with THAT?!? Feline equilibrium was achieved soon after.

There's An Unexpected Phrase

ealdthryth posted on MyLiveFaceJournalDiaryBookWitter last night that a cat had stolen her Gungdan sub and hubby was looking for it. My newly-minted Adult Fan of LEGO is enjoying her LEGO Star Wars advent calendar and amuses herself by going to the website to watch the animated versions of the daily "prizes" she builds.

Octuple geek points for her being a female that mentioned cats, LEGO, and Star Wars in the same posting on social media. ;^P

She has also rediscovered the Universal axiom of social media: If you want people to respond to your posts, add a picture of one or more cats being cute.

amused, art, lego, railroad, model railroad, cats
