So, in arty stuff...
For a small 2-cr independent study, I'm re-installing the stairway installation I did last summer in order to make a recording of music students doing improv on it, and also to lead into a series of similar installations that are based on the original (though with considerably less work!). This one went together very quickly, as far as getting permission from the building manager again and contacting music professors, etc. The sculpture prof. was talking to me about undergrad grants and stuff, which I wonder if I could have tried to apply this installation series.... except it would have felt like cheating to apply for a grant to do something I have already done. Hmm.
Also, Friday evening I threw 16 bowls in 2 hours (which... may not really seem like much, but it felt like I was going really fast compared to my normal snail-like pace). I haven't quite gotten my form right yet... the inside curve is a little harsh, and some are pretty shallow. We trim them on Tuesday, which is my favorite part of bowl making.
I tried submitting another scholarship this year, so we'll see how that goes. Dad started giving me a talk on how art things are usually the first things cut in times of economic stress... ie: don't expect to find a job. He also really wants me to go for a teaching certificate, which I'm not as keen on, actually. Kids are mean.
