((ooc: I'll just assume boy's. C:))

Of course, it's very difficult not to notice someone under one of the sinks when going to wash one's hands, and so, while he washes his hands at a different sink, Minato's attention is mostly on Kaito - or at least what of Kaito sticks out from beneath the sink. And as he dries his hands on a nearby towel, he can't help but let his curiosity take hold.

"What are you doing...?"

His first thought is that Kaito might be repairing the sink, but he looks like a student for starters, and for another thing, Minato is fairly certain that there should be a spell for fixing pipes.

Kaito isn't phased at all when he hears the question. He's quite the expert on pulling off successful pranks and he knows the key to keeping the audience (or potential victims) from suspecting what's going on is to lie and have other lies prepared to back up the first. He doesn't stop his work for a minute to give off the illusion he's not doing something he could probably get in trouble for.

"I dropped something down the drain." He answers as easily as possible, if his shoulder were visible he probably would have shrugged. "It was a present for a friend of mine so it's kinda important I get it back."

"I see." Minato watches a few more moments. "Have you tried an accio spell? If the present's not lodged somewhere, it'd save you a lot of time and work."

Oh. right, everyone and their brother had a quick fix-it spell ready for just about every situation, didn't they? If he claimed he wasn't very good at the spell there was a chance he'd be offered help and when it didn't work there would be some kind of confusion.

"Yeah, a few times, but it must be lodged in there-I wonder how stuff has been dropped in here over the years."

Conan, of course, had a long history of walking on on Kaito's projects at the worst possible times.

"...Is it really okay to be doing that sort of thing now?"

Kaito froze at the sound of that voice and the joy he'd had from the knowledge he was setting up harmless pranks again was instantly killed. Brat. No matter, just like normal he waves it off and offers a slight laugh as he tightens a screw into place.

"Ah, it's either this or I find a way to sneak to the Hufflepuff girl's dorm." Honestly, that was on his list of things to do anyway- but for now he needed something to entertain himself.

"Oh, can you do me a favor? Turn the faucet on hot, would you?"

"...Do that and you will thoroughly deserve everything that happens." That was Ran's house after all.

Conan eyes him suspiciously, but can't resist his curiosity. It was a common weakness among detectives.

"Oi. I'm not after your precious childhood friend, tantei." His tone is flat and he probably has a vaguely annoyed look on his face. He pushes himself out and sits up, minding his head and flashes Conan a grin. "Mine's cuter than yours."

"Don't worry, it's not gonna explode or anything."

jksdfkjsdklfjsdf You complete creeper. Never sneak up on a Phantom thief. Ever. Kaito jerks something horrible and bangs his head on the wall of the cabinet that hides the piping. He's usually pretty damn good at registering another's presence so the face that he didn't has him slightly on edge.

"I'm doing my civic duty and fixing a leak." Good thing he's so used to lying on the spot.

Then it's a pity that he's been trained since a young(er) age to spot those. Also, former computer.

"...No you aren't." Oh you're no fun. As it is, he's sitting beside you for some reason. "It will be interesting to see what you can do to these pipes though, given your methods." Namely 'muggle' as this place would call it. Which, while he would ordinarily deign effective, is honestly able to go either way in this place.

Oh well. You're worse than the brat, aren't you? Kaito rolled his eyes from beneath the sink and doesn't even bother to get a look at the kid as he's far too interested in finishing the new installments.

"Fine, I got bored. Happy?"

Marco just arches an eyebrow in amusement.

"You know if you want to make it churn out bubbles or look like blood or something fun, there are better ways than taking the whole thing apart, matey."

The pirate wants to join in.

Kaito vaguely recognizes that voice, but since it's only a vague memory he pushes himself out from beneath the sink to get a good look at the pirate before offering a slight shrug. It that guy that assumed he liked Aoko. Never mind that he does.

"I'm not after bubbles-I've done that before-this is new." And untested. But, he's pretty sure it's not gonna randomly explode on him so blind testing shouldn't be too dangerous.

"New, huh?" Marco crouches down curiously to try to get a better look. "New like lacing the water with flammables for fireworks, or new like what?" Should he be afraid of explosions? He still hasn't gotten the hang of not being a phoenix so the thought doesn't even occur to him that it could be bad.

"Ah, no. As cool as that sounds, I think rigging the sink with fireworks would end very badly." People could get seriously hurt if they weren't careful. "It's a whistle- I'm trying to fix it so it gets more high-pitched the hotter the water is-you know, like a tea kettle?"
