((ooc: I'll just assume boy's. C:))

Of course, it's very difficult not to notice someone under one of the sinks when going to wash one's hands, and so, while he washes his hands at a different sink, Minato's attention is mostly on Kaito - or at least what of Kaito sticks out from beneath the sink. And as he dries his hands on a nearby towel, he can't help but let his curiosity take hold.

"What are you doing...?"

His first thought is that Kaito might be repairing the sink, but he looks like a student for starters, and for another thing, Minato is fairly certain that there should be a spell for fixing pipes.

Kaito isn't phased at all when he hears the question. He's quite the expert on pulling off successful pranks and he knows the key to keeping the audience (or potential victims) from suspecting what's going on is to lie and have other lies prepared to back up the first. He doesn't stop his work for a minute to give off the illusion he's not doing something he could probably get in trouble for.

"I dropped something down the drain." He answers as easily as possible, if his shoulder were visible he probably would have shrugged. "It was a present for a friend of mine so it's kinda important I get it back."

"I see." Minato watches a few more moments. "Have you tried an accio spell? If the present's not lodged somewhere, it'd save you a lot of time and work."

Oh. right, everyone and their brother had a quick fix-it spell ready for just about every situation, didn't they? If he claimed he wasn't very good at the spell there was a chance he'd be offered help and when it didn't work there would be some kind of confusion.

"Yeah, a few times, but it must be lodged in there-I wonder how stuff has been dropped in here over the years."

"... probably less than down the sinks in girls' bathrooms, because they're more likely to wear earrings and adjust them in front of a mirror." There is a pause in which he debates just leaving, but he supposes he ought to at least offer assistance. "Do you want any help?"

There is actually something Kaito could use help with. He would love for someone to turn the water on in the sink above him so he can test out his new invention. However, since his little prank could get him in trouble and he doesn't want to get ratted out or caught so instead he offers a pointless shrug.

"Naw, I'll get it." He pauses briefly, though he continues working on the sink, odd that he hasn't taken any of the pipes out, isn't it? "I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you though- if a girl is fixing her earring or something in the mirror than she would no doubt see it fall into the drain and undoubtedly use the summoning spell to fish it out again." Ugh. Fish.

"Are you sure? You seem to be having some trouble getting it disassembled." But Minato shoves his hands into his pockets; if the other boy doesn't want help, he doesn't want help. "That may be true, but the question was how many things got dropped down there - not how many remained."

"Yeah, I've almost gotten it." He waves it off with easy as he tightens a screw into place. He'd have to test it later since it'd probably raise an eyebrow he tried anything now. Not to mention land him in detention.

"Ah, true enough. In that case, you'd undoubtedly be right."

Minato watches the other boy for a few more moments, but it becomes apparent to him that either this other kid is doing a really bad job of getting the sink apart, doesn't want to do it while he's watching or he isn't really taking it apart at all. But whichever it is, Minato is not particularly bothered about it.

"Mm... well, good luck with whatever you're doing," he says as he turns, pausing just in case Kaito has anything further to say before he turns to head out.

Note to self: have something on your person at all times you could pass off as lodged in a sink. he quietly pushes himself out from beneath the sink and gets up to turn the water on, somewhat pleased when a low whistling noise meets his ears.

"Oi, before you go, can you hear that?"

Minato pauses at the door and looks back, blinking. "... the whistling? Yes. ... what is it?"

So then, it's definitely not loud enough and he needs to readjust a few things. "It's supposed to sound like a tea kettle." He gives a sigh as he shuts the water off and ducks back under the sink to unattach his new toy, poke at it and twist a few things tighter into place and reattaches it.

This would be so much easier with electronics, plus he could have that really loud, obnoxious elevator music he wanted.

"I see. ... I think it needs to be higher pitched for that. More piercing," Minato suggests blandly, once more just watching Kaito work.

"Ah." He agrees, lazily turning the water on again wincing when it just lets out a loud shriek.

"...Not quite what I was going for, but pretty close I guess."

He listens for a moment. "It sounds pretty irritating, if that's what you're going for." ... which does raise the question... "Why are you doing this, anyway?"

Of course he's going for irritating-it wouldn't be a prank if it didn't irritate people.

He just shrugs. "I got bored."
