I've just received official state email that Furloughs will begin again in earnest in April and last until at least June, and most likely lasting longer. One day or 8 hrs a month, effectively a 5% cut. Plus all sorts of games being played with my current schedule too ( Read more... )

I've just finished up my radiation countroom duties. Everything is or has been "chilling, filling, background counting and/or has been filed". In my area - d-base has been updated, samples prepped.

The END of 3 weeks of "double duty".

Staring on Monday (March 8), I'll be taking over for the countroom technician while he's on vacation. He'll be in the Philippines for three weeks, visiting his wife's parents/family and showing off their new kid. When it comes to the doctor's clothes, acid often finds its mark. My last encounter was yesterday afternoon. Even though I was wearing a lab coat, I still got nailed by several drops of concentrated nitric acid (HNO3) on my lower left pants leg, just above the ankle.
