Gas prices are skyrocketing faster than anytime that I could remember. This includes the big gas shortages in the 1970's and 80's, The price for 89 octane (what the Isuzu runs best with) has gone from 2.54 to 2.99 since friggen SUNDAY.
Four dollars a gallon in the next several weeks? - This is not completely out of question. Here in Atlanta (a major distribution point in the SE) only 2 of the 10 major pipelines are currently operational. I'm already seeing big gas lines at the cheaper filling stations - and gas could be in short supply this holiday weekend.
..and even with all the damage caused by Katrina - I'll bet that oil company profits will be near 'record levels" for this quarter.
