Panic at the Pump
Nothing like a few rumors of an impending gas shortage in the Atlanta Metro to send the moronic yuppie lemmings residents in a full scale panic mode. When I drove home last night, gas prices were already soaring - but that was NOTHING compared to the insanely long lines and outrageous prices set by a number of stations. The local TV stations were reporting prices of 4, 5, 6 and even up to 8 dollars a gallon (!), and huge lines that snarled traffic for miles. Here's a take by that kilt-wearing, image master photognome about the shear moronic insanity of both the lemming mentality, and the severe price gouging that was going down. Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue quickly got into the act and signed an executive order authorizing state sanctions against price gouging retailers. I'm not a huge Perdue fan, but I applaude his quick response on this wallet fleecing act. Not only does this type of price insanity reflects badly on this state, but someone needs to look after the poor, mindless yuppies and twittish soccermoms.

This morning the local prices in my county ranged (89 octane) 2.89 to 3.39 - I'm sure its higher in the city. I paid 3.09 to top off my tank at 6 AM, as I know the prices are going to get worse before finally going back to pre-Katrina levels.
Dragon*Con 2005!
OK, hurricane spawned insanity aside, the 'doctor' will be attending Dragon*con on Satuday and Sunday. I'll be hanging with the mighty awakenedwarrior and his trusted band of knights. I will dressed as the "fried Friar", dispensing blessings of tasty meade to all my loyal lj readers. Saturday night, I will be at vernard's and zorathenne's lj-bash and d*con party - more details on this to come.
As for room, phone #'s -etc; I won't know all the details until the 'warrior' takes up "residence" at the Hyatt (?). Sometime Friday I will post the details for those wishing the meet the 'doctor'.
