So I'm knitting on request. It's kind of an odd job I found while I look for a proper job. It's for a wool boutique (excuse the coining of words here) and I'm their only two-needle... knitter? I need to go back to my books.
So far I've made a long sleevless jacket, in white and beige, and now I'm halfway into a sweater made of pure sheep in grey and white, rather elaborate as it is a peculiar design. I will post pictures as soon as I finish it... and ask my neighbour for her camera :P
Being the batshit maniac I am, I can't just do one thing at the time, so when I'm knitting I need to be watching or listening to something. That's how I'm putting myself up-to-date with all the anime I downloaded in these past few months.
I finished Darker than Black 2. I quite liked it, even if the events in the first season are a bit blurry in my memory. As usual, Hei=love. And for once, I liked the ending. I give it an 8.
Then I finished (grudgingly) Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu 2. I was pretty annoyed with the stupid comercial strategy of doing all 8 episodes of Infinite August, but I had to finish it. The end, as expected, was disappointing and open, and it lacked the impulse and fun of the first season. Personally, the only thing that saved it were the seiyuu, who did a very decent job. I give it a 5.
Nyan Koi! was a nice discovery. Mindless and non-presumptuous, fun and entertaining. It's not the anime of the century and it certainly isn't my cup of tea, but at least the moe factor was zero. There was also a secondary character that cracked me up, the Yakuza senpai. Episodes 4 and 5 were hilarious. I give it a 7.
Last, the greatest find of this year (so far): Baccano! What an incredibly good story. I loved everything about it: the characters, the style, the set up, the music, the feeling, the development, the insane back-and-forth action, the brilliant finale. I place it up there, right next to and sharing the pedestal with Cowboy Bebop. Things that good don't happen that often, apparently. The seiyuu work was -and this happens very rarely, at least to my obsessive ears- shadowed by the quality of the story and the development of facts. There were only three times I reacted to the voice and not the action, and it happened with Masaya Onosaka, Daisuke Namikawa and Masakazu Morita, whom I already adored because of his Ichigo but now I simply worship. But these reactions were only "lol, there he goes again", "OMG! NamiDaiiii!!!" and "hdgsadfsghs BABY!", and then I moved on. A definite, perfect and never-better-deserved 10+.
Now, the ongoing ones.
I started DRRR!! and I quite like it, despite the infuriating search for good fansubs that don't upload only in Megaupload. It's fun, weird and interesting, even if it lacks the pull and thrill of Baccano!. One word on the seiyuu work: I didn't much know OnoD's works, only as Koizumi (in Haruhi) and as Sebastian (in Kuroshitsuji) and they really aren't that different. Well, the roles are different, but he kind of uses the same tones for both of them. In DRRR!!, I didn't know who he was. And then I read the list of actors and I didn't believe it. Then I saw some scans and there was a pic with his character and I had to believe it. Now that is one fine transformation. He's not that elegant gentleman anymore, he's a crazed, dark bastard with a thread-on voice, and I love it. Not only he's sweet in person and easy on the eyes, he can voice, for real.
Finally, I've been struck with a shojo stick so I'm watching Vampire Knight. Only it's not as shojo as I feared: it's better, dark, dramatic and full of pretty young pups. I don't care who the main character is, I'm supporting Zero and the beautiful, and always improving Mamoru Miyano. I don't support the character just because of the seiyuu, mind, I like him and his dark past and even worse present, but Mamoru-chan (I'm six years older, shut up) makes it all better and perfect. I'm about to watch episode 4 now.
I'm also reading things: e-books and fanfiction. But I'll report on that later, when I get tired of knitting again ^_^'
Big kiss to all, and comment at least with a hi ¬w¬
