OK, so using the needles and yarn size reccommended in the pattern I get 16 stitches and 20 (ish) rows to the 4 inches. Gauge for the pattern is *13* stitches and 20 rows to the 4 inches ( Read more... )

I am knitting away on my second Eleanora of Toledo sock and it is becoming apparent that this skein of yarn is thinner than the first one. (Problem with non-commercial yarn) the first one was just heavy enough to make the pattern work. This one, less so. I am not sure want to do about this. My little shawlette is finished! Go me. 8-> I shall block it tomorrow, as I am having the day off. Flex time is a wonderful invention. Everyone should have it. 8-> I am a bit worried that it won't block very well and will be too small. Perhaps I should have used wool rather than cotton/viscose. It does feel nice. I am obviously getting faster at this knitting thing. Working on a knee sock had hidden this from me as the rows are almost twice as long to go around my muscly calves.
