When is the Cesar obsession going to end?! I'm getting really sick of people watching the show and thinking anything and everything can be solved by just walking your dog a tad bit behind you ( Read more... )

I'd really like to see Cesar go up against a good trainer. Have two similar dogs with similar issues and see what dog benefits more in the long run.

I would *love* to be there in person and watch him with a client. And then to go back and do a few follow ups and see if there is any long lasting change in the dog's behavior.

I'd really like to see Cesar go up against a good trainer.

A month or two ago I watched a bunch of clips from his show(I don't have cable so I live for clips haha) and I was horrified. One of the most troubling I saw was a little white maltese mix looking dog who was bitey and didn't like to be groomed. Cesar had the dog scruffed and pressed against the table while the dog tried to bite and screamed to get away. Cesar just stood there and cut the dogs hair while the dog freaked out.

To me, that would be a way to groom the dog if you wanted the dog to get fear aggressive, be afraid of people all together and fear grooming. Ugh.

Exactly!!! He was acting like, "look, it's so easy!" If the owner tried that she would get bit, just like he did, and she would poke out the dog's eyes!

I don't care if he was able to trim some of the hair. The dog was terrified. It's not like the dog was about to die and there was no time to use positive methods. It was only hair. Yes he cut it, but he also did a crappy job, got bite, and freaked out the dog even more. Keep that up and the dog will bite the owner anytime she just goes to touch the poor thing.

It's like dominance and Cesar are the two big things right now.

"My 8 week old puppy pees on the carpet, what do I do?"

"OMG He's being dominant, watch Cesar and learn how to alpha roll him!"

Well if that's what you think his answer would be to the problem, you're wrong.

there's no way in hell i want luce walking behind me. she'd spot a dog i didn't spot (or a squirrel or a cat or an interestingly flapping plastic bag), zip behind me, and i'd be flat on my ass in a heartbeat.

Thank you for posting this so people can see how *not* to train their dogs.

*Snerk*

The internet is just crawling with this guy and his fans. Livejournal is actually the only place I've found that at least has a larger group of people who do NOT support Cesar.

There are actually some forums that will ban you or mock you for simply questioning the man's methods. It's insane.
