discoveries

I caught an organizing bug today, which led to me sorting through my purses. They were kind of a mess. I have a rack specifically for them, but some were there while others were hanging on my shoe rack and still others were pretty much wherever. I divided them into three piles: ones I can't remember using and thus went into the donation bag; ones I don't use often but enough to warrant keeping them and thus went into a box to be stored once I organize my closets; and ones I use at least semi-regularly and thus wanted to leave out. I made a point to not leave out more than will fit on the rack, and now it looks neat, and that's awesome.

Meanwhile, I was pulling stuff out of them as I went, because that's how I do. Among other things, I found several pens, a grocery list from years ago, a tiny flashlight, a calculator, four Midol, a headband ear warmer I've been trying to find for years, a TriMet fare receipt (when's the last time I was even in Portland? Damn), earbuds, an extra iPod USB cable, a couple notepads, and a bar receipt from 2008 for almost $90. (Four beers, three mixed drinks, and 11 shots. I'd almost forgotten those days.... And don't miss them, wow.)

For the most part, I can understand why those things would end up in my purses. Except the calculator. WHY did I have a calculator in my purse? It's a mystery, really.
