Boku Unmei no Hito Desu episode 2
After last time announcing he is intent on fighting for Haruko, Makoto has another fight to do. His company is giving bonus of 100000yen for getting 10 new patrons and Makoto wants to do it. Meanwhile he and Haruko bump into eachother in front of an elevator and while he is all happy about it she is less so. Her friend Yotsuya berates her for not trying with such a guy who is even intent on liking brass music for her(he said that after concert he bought cd-s and is working on liking it). Haruko wants to listen to her sense but Yotsuya points that her sense is not reliable, getting her from one failiure to another troughout years. Makoto is unsuccessful in searching for new patrons and on top of it sees Haruko standing with man in front of his office building. Man he right away recognizes as his competitor for Harukos' affection, Sadaoka-san. He and Haruko right away recognized eachother and are both happy to rekindle relation. He works in building on other side of the road but same floor as her. Coincidence. I love how Makoto shamelesly inserts himself by Harukos' side and makes his presence noted. After some prodding, Sadaoka does remember Makoto and modestly brushes off his victory swing as coincidence, god of baseball helped him out. Since he clarifies that he was just second replacement and was coincidence that he was even on field, Makoto asks: Does that strike of coincidences happen? Sadaoka wants all of them to go drink some day(seems sincere) and since he and Haruko are going same way, Makoto is left alone.
Later, Makoto returns home when God jumps to scare him. Lol. I looove how bummed God is that Makoto didn't react and wonders if he is too predictable. But Makoto asks him why did he help Sadaoka win that point? God denies his involvement and says that Sadaoka was simply too happy to be part of the game that he used all his skill at that moment. Makoto wishes he didn't ask. Ha. He wonders what can he do to win this time and gets answer: Money. His company is giving bonus for 10 new patrons right? Win bonus and money may help for her to look his way. God mocks his sawings as not even enough to buy socks pointing to his own(he doesn't have shoes on this time) and Makoto gets defensive but doesn't want to know how much Sadaoka has in saving, to protect his ego. God tells he has to earn this chance and Makoto is confident.
Next day he is out whole day doing his best to find new patrons. Meanwhile, Sadaoka waits for Haruko after work. Two of them and Yotsuya end up drinking at that old mans' place and Sadaoka and Haruko remember things from past like how she was voted best wife material, how she rejected him, how his friends and he made John Lenon mock-band, etc. They have fun and Yotsuya prods Haruko to go out with him.
Makoto on the other hand, manages to make contract after waiting for quite a while. Man is really nice and when handed card Makoto is shocked to realize his last name is Kogetsu. He is Harukos' father! Also i love this actor. They go out to drink and chat and dad is pleasantly surprised with Makoto wanting to go drink with him. He even says his daughter, who he is afraid will remain alone, should find nice man like Makoto. Oh, father, if you'd only knew.
After that, Makoto returns to his apartment only to this time get scared by God. Lol, he enjoys it. God jokingly asks if he forgot who he was supposed to seduce. Hahaha. And then says that his rival took his chance and is sleeping peacefully by Harukos' side right this moment. My God, how deliciously evil can you be. He waits for Makoto to freak out before revealing that they are in some fancy bar with Yotsuya. And while Sadaoka is sleeping by Haruka, he is doing it with his head on bar table while sitting on chair. Though he does wake up and while Haruko is in the bathroom Yotsuya tells him about Haruko having it bad with guys. Makoto is irritated that God seems to cheer on Sadaoka but God does tell him that having dad on good side is great. Though point is not that dad loves him but Haruko. But God goes with his "saving the world is the point" thing.
Haruko comes home to find her dad sleeping on table and his pocket content across table. She spots Makotos' business card and freezes. Next day she confronts Makoto about it but he insists that he was as surprised to meet her dad, he wouldn't go that far to be a stalker. She is still suspicious about this coincidence thing saying it is weird and he points out how he said same thing from the beginning: its like destiny wants them together. She gets irritated about destiny thing and bursts his romantic bubble with cold hard logic. This is just odds at work. He again asks if streak of coincidence happens so often but she will have none of it, people often mistake these things for love. He tries with bringing up both of them at concert but she calls him conceited, it is common thing to clap at the end. He is hurt and asks if she is having fun downplaying these things and mocking him? Is she so afraid of things she cannot explain? When he was five and they were playing, there was huge rainbow on sky. She said that she will marry first guy who passes under rainbow. And so every time he saw a rainbow he would run to pass under it. He obviously couldn't but he didn't know that. He still believes it little because it is more fun that way. She was silent till now and smiles saying it is good to have fun but please keep her out of it. Sheesh.
That night Haruko is having dinner with her parents when her father proposes for them to buy water dispenser like one they bought for company few days ago. She says they have water purifier but though her father acknowledges it i think this is not last we hear of this. And indeed, when next day Makoto comes to company dad shares that they are talking of putting dispenser in house. Ha. Makoto also goes to Harukos' director who is all smiles and wants to drink tea with him since now she enjoys wide variety. So sweet! She also wants to give him a cake and it happens to be Harukos' birthday cake. He thinks of bonus and how she will look his way... But things don't go that way cause his coworkers already spent his bonus on BBQ evening for everyone. Yikes, talking about rude. There is nothing he can do but eat and drink with them. At the same time Haruko is alone at restaurant and at old mans' place. On her way home rain makes her hide in front of some closed place. Fate has it that Makoto fins shelter across the street. He yells for her to wait and runs to the store returning with umbrella apologizing for not giving her better birthday present. She starts to walk away but near group of guys start singing Happy Birthday to their friend whos' name is, what are the odds, Haruo. She is a little shaken and this time roles are reversed: Makoto is the one saying it is just coincidence and she says it is strange. She smiles before stopping the cab and saying goodbye to Makoto. Before she enters they share brief moment but once in the cab she seems unaffected. That is till she tells driver to stop and her face shows shock. The store where Makoto bought her umbrella has huge Rainbow sign above the entrance door. OMG! The man who passes under rainbow. She laughs for herself before ordering driver to go on. You won't invite him to share taxi?
Makoto comes home to find God doing some decorating saying how when girl comes he should present himself like someone with style. Hahaha. Makoto is not in good mood for not being told how his bonus will be spent. Though he is happy that Haruko was pleased when they parted. But Mr God reveals that in that taxi she got a message from Sadaoka(containing his picture as John Lenon and as present for her birthday lyrics for song they talked about) and she will be thinking about that. Not Makoto. Nooooooo! I feel so bad for him. God points out that Makoto doesn't even have her number.
