I've been reading the news a lot more over the past week, and I sometimes stumble across interesting tidbits. Take the following juxtaposition for example:
I just finished reading a story about a man who was taken into custody after admitting to trying to poison his wife, the mother of his two children, for the past few years with rat poison. There are various conjectures on the reason, but it probably has something to do with hiding the extramarital affairs he's been having. He was sentenced to 10 years.
In another story, a 17 year old kid was given a blowjob by a consenting 15 year old kid. He was likewise sentenced to 10 year.
Do these two crimes really deserve the same sentencing?
