I washed my zip-up wool hoodie on Sunday afternoon and, two days later, it still isn't dry. So far I have laid it on a thick towel to soak up most of the water, and then hung it up for two nights. And nothing! Nothing! I really love that hoodie but if it takes this long to dry every time, I may have to only wear it on special occasions.
We had a good Reckless Moment last night. Henrik Elmer brilliantly closed the show, and seemed genuinely flattered with his reception afterwards. He comes across on-stage as a proper oddity, and also has some of the best callbacks that I've seen on the live comedy circuit. The audience weren't sure what to make of him for the first two minutes, but after that he had a wonderful gig. There was also a student comic called Jack Heal on, who did very well. My stuff was a tiny bit off, and I forgot the names of the most acts at the end (which is the first time, in almost two years of compering, that I've done that) so I was a bit embarrassed.
Something I really like about compering is that the situation gives you the freedom to say, pretty much, whatever you want to people. Some acts use this for mean purposes (and fewer do it successfully), but I like to say really nice things to people - I told a girl in the audience last night that she had a beautiful smile (and she did!). I wouldn't dare give such overt compliments in a regular social situation, particularly to girls, but on-stage they frequently come out and are rarely met by hostility. Perhaps that is just how I should act all the time - perhaps.
