X3

Because a little birdie asked for my review of X3, here goes.

It blows.

I'm gonna say it right here - X1 and X2, while getting a lot right, are not my favorite comic adaptations. Wolverine was emasculated, Cyclops was robbed of any dignity, Storm was - awful, etc. So what does X3 do? They wipe any sort of animal instinct away from Wolverine, do God knows what to Scott Summers and give Storm more screentime. It was an awful movie. Having said that, if it had a much better script with a slightly more original plot line (hello... this is X1 in reverse!) I might've at least enjoyed it. But no, they pretty much shitcanned every character because they had absolutely no clue what they had. The effects were lackluster to boot. All the hallmarks of a rushed production because of some Hollywood political beef.

The audience I saw it with - most of them anyway - seemed to enjoy it. If you're looking for a comic-book movie and have low expectations and have never read more than 2 X-Men comics, you'll probably have fun too. Unfortunately for me I see missed opportunities and a heaping helping of potential squandered.
