I've just discovered a fenced dog park that's a 15-minute drive from my place. I've taken my 1-year-old Cocker Spaniel (Dexter) there twice now, and each time he's humped other dogs. Corrie is an 18 week old black lab/border collie/mutt (possibly some heeler, GSD, chow, and who knows what all else...sometimes I even see a hint of pit bull). A month ago we got our sweet girl from an animal rescue group in our area. She is a little over a year old, and is a boxer mix. She is really smart and is great at learning; she now knows sit, and lay down. We are still working on the others, slowly but surely. I adopted a two year old Mini Eskie back in March from a breeder. He was one of the shyest dogs of the bunch so I think he might have had some socialization issues growing up :( Anyway, he is a sweet and loving dog to me, but not the typical friendly dog with others.

Hi guys! This isn't particularly pressing, but I was thinking about it tonight. Carl (in the icon) has been afraid of spoons his entire life. He's afraid of other objects, too, if they are held up threateningly, but he won't approach a spoon even if it is just laying on the floor. My husband & I just returned from a very stressful day at his parents house where we spent most of our time trying to keep our puppy from mauling his parents' very old, sick dog and we'd like some advice on how to keep their interactions a little more controlled in the future.
