I'm in London on vacation. I'm off to attend Suzy's wedding this coming weekend. A short vacation tour of London and surrounding sites seemed like a good idea until the Tube Workers decided to go on strke.

            I'm visiting with Daughter. She is currently teaching dressage in Crete for a few months. She has a splendid apartment in a small city east of Heraklion (spellings differ depending on maps). She's put me up at her place. It is VERY nice. I posted my thoughts on Charles N. Brown yesterday. Today I get a note that a wonderful Cape Breton Fiddler, Jerry Holland, has passed away. I am a bit distracted and certainly saddened by his passing and the loss to contra dance - and country music. Sigh.

It's been cold and this and interval snowstorms are the reasons that I've not posted lately. The cold has shown us that New England is COLD in the winter. I was looking through the Hawaii vacation pictures and realized that the "Active Vent" at the Kilauea Volcano Park was putting out tons - actually 3000 or more TONS of sulfur dioxide a DAY. 6000 pounds of sulfur dioxide a day is a LOT. This picture:
