I feel like my brain needs to either explode or do something else. I feel drained and am taking the rest of the day off, which means I'm having a beer - kiss my ass doctors!
After getting up late b/c my alarm mysteriously was turned off, I headed off to U of Iowa to do slothy things. I'd never gotten to see the finished product of half the bones I'd helped dig up, let alone the others they found when I wasn't there, so I headed out to fix that. One of the people I was supposed to see wasn't available - he and I have been missing each other lately due to dueling illnesses. Still, I had a good time with the collections manager and it really is an amazing find. I'm even in their records now b/c I identified a previously unidentified bone - I ROCK!! There was even talk that if I wanted to publish something on said sloths that I could... I'll have to think about that one.
Anyway, I felt really refreshed after that and would have voice posted this but LJ is a dick. Instead, I tried out a new voicemail bomb on dukenny... R&D is already at work after that test run.
I think what has sucked out my life and chipper mood was the very tedious task of submitting my much coveted manuscript to the Journal of Paleontology. It was much harder than it should have been, taking over an hour for what was essentially uploading files!! Bastardos...
At least its done. Hopefully it'll get assigned and I'll get decent feedback that doesn't involve me overhauling the damn thing, which is probably what will happen... bastardos. Still, now I can move on to submitting the U. of Nebraska job application and begin the process of getting out of here. Well, finishing the dissertation is really the beginning process but motivation helps.
Again, too tired and drained to work on dissertation tonight. Drinking beer and watching Futurama instead...
