I got a new hard drive for my laptop and tried to install Windows Media Center XP 2005. There is something wrong with it. Among other things, if I double click on the IE icon, it asks what program I want to open it with. Couldn't actually find the executable. All in all seems like I am missing stuff

Does anyone have a recommendation for a DB book for users? To wit: I am not a DBA. I do not need to optimize the database or do other complicated work. I do need to be able to write effective select statements. I don't mind if the book does cover some DBA stuff as long as it also has a decent focus on getting information out of the database.

We are thinking about finally doing this. Who all is doing it? Do you pay directly to each company or have some special software to manage it all? Any other thoughts or hints would be appreciated.
I am currently between projects (i.e. bored) and was talking to one of my managers about what I could be reading that would be both interesting and useful. One of things that he mentioned was Ajax, which I thought he said was Asynchronous Java and XML. Since I was hoping for something along the Java lines and have a passing familiarity with XML,

In the one-more-reason-to-love-MS category: I pulled a couple of webpages (originally written with emacs) off my ISP. Copied one to template.html. Opened it with Word. It showed how it would look in a browser. Did 'View HTML source'. Removed all the text, replaced the title with 'Your title here', other such things. Saved it. Exited.
