No, new How I Met Your Mother this week. In other news, I discovered that Canadians really do have that accent thing that Robin puts on sometimes. Robin clearly exaggerates it, but the accent is real.
This week's episode of Heroes kind of sucked. For one thing, nothing really happened. I guess more power players got into place, but there wasn't really anything to get excited.
But quite a bit to be UNHAPPY about. The constant retconning is getting on my nerves. I guess they felt it was necessary because many of the characters who are continuing today had their story arcs ended in Season 1. To prolong their life on the show, they had to rewrite a lot of stuff, like the fact that we spent most of last season b*tching about some awful disease that took your powers, while this season the disease has mysteriously been wiped from people's minds so that the only way to save Maya is for big bad Arthur Petrelli to take it away.
I hate Arthur Petrelli so far. He's just a bad guy. So what? Go back and die.
I also hate what they've done to Sylar. Sylar was a pretty one note character, and they had to do this to him to keep him, but he's become too soft. Too malleable. I can pretend to tolerate the first time he was converted from bad guy to good guy, but he goes from unconditionally listening to Angela Petrelli to unconditionally listening to Arthur Petrelli. He also saves Peter's life, for no clear reason whatsoever.
I also don't like many of the deaths, real and not real. The real ones are weak: Adam gives up his power, Maury... The old deaths really hit you hard because they meant more than so and so is gone. Isaac, Simone... even Alejandro. Then these fake gag deaths which are just dumb. I mean, Hiro equipping Ando with fake blood and a fake sword just so he can pretend to kill him? Matt playing dead? They're stupid, and we could do without. Either death means something or it doesn't.
And the slapping together of ships is just pathetic. Is it really that hard to grow them naturally? Nathan and Tracy work for this reason. Mohinder/Maya and Matt/Daphne don't. Matt/Daphne makes me gag. Daphne is proving to be really awesome. I love how unique her mannerisms are, compared to the others. But they tied her to Matt because...?
