I'm probably in the minority here locally with this opinion, but this was the best snowmageddon ever. We had 14-18 inches in the area last night, after some freezing rain. However:
- my road was plowed and in perfect condition by 8am.
- the county declared a state of emergency until 10am initially, then bumped it until 5pm. Because of that my work told everyone to stay home and try to make it in after 10am.
- I got to "work" from home from 8am-10am. I had about 30 minutes of work to fill 2 hours. I let the ferrets out and played with them between some calls. I also had
kiddywonkus over for cookie breakfast.
- they plowed the center courtyard so I could get out about 10 minutes before I needed to leave. I had to shovel nothing.
- the roads to work were all perfect.
- our boss bought everyone who made it in lunch.
- when people don't go to their work places, it means they're not breaking stuff. This means I had a relaxed day that involved a lot of reading while waiting on progress bars.
All in all, it was a relaxed, enjoyable day. I feel a little bad about it, since most of the people I know had to spend hours shovelling or struggling to get to work. But only a little :)
