Who: Tei, Finitevus
What: It's a fool's game...
When: March 6th, evening
Where: Tei's home in Axyori

The apartment was almost deathly silent and dark, and to anyone who might have entered through the chronically unlocked door it would look for all intents and purposes like no one was home. But if they stood and listened long enough, the occasional cords of a hummed song could be heard coming from the single bedroom in the back.

Tei was home, but she was taking great efforts for no particular reason to make it look like she wasn't. She had tucked herself away in to the corner of her bedroom on the floor, huddled beneath the comforter from her bed, and had been there for hours, unmoving and quiet save for those few times she would randomly start humming the song. She couldn't remember the words for some reason. Or maybe she just didn't want to remember the words. She didn't know. Her mind was already starting to muddle and get confused again, the urges to hurt something - or hurt herself even - rising in place of the temporary sanity she had experienced for a week. The only thing keeping her remotely anchored was the small gold class pin in her hand.

She knew she was starting to slip again when she woke up Saturday morning, again in Nokoru's bed as she had stayed almost the entire week with him. It had been fun. They laughed, they messed around, they watched silly movies and had dinner on the couch, just the two of them in something that was almost... almost perfect. A few times she cried, sobbing her regrets over what she had become and what she had let herself become out of anger and hatred towards those who imprisoned her rather than fix her. And each time she cried, he held her and told her it would be alright soon enough.

Their time together was almost painfully short. When she felt herself starting to slip again she told him she had to go, for his sake, but that she would come back when Haku was ready to start the attempts to repair her broken coding. He begged her not to leave, but she said it was just too risky. She had heard what Suoh had said to him that night they were caught together - "For the love of God, be careful. I don't want to pick you up at the morgue next time." - and she had quietly agreed with him. There was just no way she'd be able to hold on that long and not end up hurting Nokoru again.

He finally relented and let her leave, but not without giving her his class pin, so she would have a piece of him even in her darkest moments.

It was helping, but she wasn't sure how much longer it was going to last. She wanted to see him, but she feared so much what that would bring.

"You’re still far away...I can’t reach you at all; the distance between you and me is 13km..." she sang to herself, voice sounding broken and shaky. A sob escaped, and she curled tighter where she sat, begging the night to come so she could sleep and maybe, just maybe, have a little peace.
