Why costuming a show can suck....

.... I went to rehearsal on Monday to lock in all the costume pieces that we needed.  I confirmed that everyone had everything they needed and/or were bringing things from home to assist since we have some very TALL men in this cast.  Our wardrobe is stuffed full of neat vintage things but rarely do I find anyone that size ya know?  Anyways, so I wasn't planning to go back to look at the costumes until this evening since I had a few alteration to work on at home last night.  I got a text at about 11pm saying that there were two costumes for the same person that needed to be completely changed... and they were the two costumes I worked the hardest on finding.  I needed some nice fitted suit jackets for a very tiny woman.... and they needed to look modern.  That was the kicker.  We have LOTS of women's suits and suit jackets in various colors etc.... but MODERN ones?  No.  We don't have that.  And not to mention this woman has very dark hair and a dark complexion... so I REFUSE to put her in a black suit jacket.  Her face would disappear.  It would look bad.  So I tried something REALLY risky and put her in a white suit jacket with some black bling on the lapel and black and white pin stripe pants.  It was a nice fitted jacket and so should have worked.  Apparently not.    The other jacket I picked was a very nice and springy green.... but it was a small print so.... it was hard to tell what the print would do under the lights.... apparently it looked awful.  *sigh*  Modern jackets we don't have and the woman is a size 3.  I am bringing in some of my suit jackets this evening but I guarantee they will be WAY too big on her.  And again, if he requests a black jacket or another very dark color.... I REFUSE to do it to her.  Its my job to make sure they look good right?
I just want to bang my head against a wall.  And the worst part..... I don't have a clue WHY this bothers me so much.
