The slash is taking over. The boys are being so very supportive of one another . . . argh. Had to interrupt the worried comforting and the tense political conflict with the dramatic entrance of the bloody remnants of the field trip.

It seems the writing is now happening only at write-ins. I don't think this one is going to get finished, either.

I came so close to winning at the write-in that I started up again as soon as I got home. Unfortunately, the bod made known her objections. Stridently. Two rounds of ice packs and much ibuprofen later, I'm at least functional enough to update my LJ. Smallest write-in ever, but I got a lot written despite not knowing where to go without knowing what the frelling connection is. It's to do with communication, for sure, despite my having taken the most glaring language issue out of the story. I sort of cheated today, having characters think about the backstory as I worked it out. I despise that sort of internal reflection as exposition, but I had to figure some of this stuff out before I could make scenes with these people. How cool are Ottawa's wrimos? A whole bunch of them showed up at the final write-in, despite having already won or surrendered, just to support us last-minute scramblers. A few even stuck around to chivvy my co-ML and me across the finish line. I felt amazed and honoured to know those people.

Ah, write-ins! How they did save my hiney! Notice how my productivity jumped every four days or so?
