I don't know who contacted who, but last night as a sweeps stunt, an Albuquerque television station filed a long report about our local "First Responder Training Program". I live in a place with crime. A couple of years back, I fed the FBI stats into MS-Access and found that this community of 10,000 ranked 166th out of every incorporated community in the United States. 166th may not sound that high, but you have to consider that this is out of every town and to make matters worse, as you stairstep towards Albuquerque ( Read more... )

I attended the PTA meeting for my daughter's school this evening. The topic was the uniform policy and as I've noted in the past, I'm opposed to the concept. I don't like the idea of conformity. I feel that kids expressing themselves through their clothing choices are a way they forge their own identity and I don't buy any of the arguments in favor ( Read more... )

Yesterday, my wife was home sick, but by noon and after sleeping a few more hours, she decided that the illness had passed, so she got up and started working from home.
