LJ and i always rekindle our love when i am procrastinating. how convenient.
this is actually my first post from my new laptop that i got for christmas :) how exciting.
so in "recent news", aka the past couple of months since i last wrote, i...
- can now officially check the little box where it says "had surgery", should i ever need to fill out a new form at a doctors office.
- am in a constant struggle to make my right leg the same size as my left (as a consequence of above mentioned surgery)
- decided to change my major(s) and minor(s)
- am probably staying at UM an extra year
- am sidelined for the season but coaching offense, so it's not terrible
- am going home in a little less than 2 weeks for spring break :)
quite eventful i'd say.
my new ACL is fully functional and in a few weeks i will (hopefully) be running. on march 19th it will be 3 months since surgery, and already (starting 2 weeks ago) i can do lunges. recovery is happening faster than expected, which is a good thing. now if only my right leg didn't look so emaciated.....
i'm now an exercise physiology major with a minor in education. i decided that i really don't like english as much as i thought i did, or as much as i might be "good" at it. this semester, my classes really blow, and i knew that something had to give...so i made a change. well sort of- i'm kind of in the process of getting those amazing change of major forms and struggling to contact the right people (story of EVERY UM students life, basically)...but it's coming along. i think i'm going to do the 5 year program (hence the extra year at UM) and graduate with a masters degree. after that, the world is my oyster- grad school, teaching, etc. etc. no complaints there.
lacrosse is going well... we are #2 in SWLL right now, which is amazing. we hosted 'fun in the sun' 2 weekends ago and went 3-1 against some nationally ranked club teams like Dartmouth, Vtech, Minnesota, Penn State and Illinois. it sucks not playing, but i've been more than involved in organizing and running practices, so i'm making the most of it. now that i've changed my plan a bit and gain an extra year at school, this lost sophomore slump of a year really doesn't matter much. our team is young and we have a lot of potential, so it will be exciting to see how far we go in a few years. my main goal is to get the necessary funding and recognition that we need, so by 2010 and 2011 when UF, UCF and UGA are going D-1, UM can make the transition as well. it's an exciting time for women's lacrosse in terms of coming down south and getting established. :D
uhhh what else? i'm heading home for spring break this year to visit the homies. lauren doesn't have spring break because of student teaching, so i'll be hitting up the tundra of syracuse to hang with her and catch the women's and men's lacrosse teams play on march 9. then ill be chillin with the fam, hopefully getting a new cell phone since mine is sooo done and done (and the contract is expired), and loving life until returning back to sunny flaaaaa. i'm extremely excited for the end of this semester, which will put a cap on a really ridiculously hard year- but for once i'm excited for next year and the change of pace that its going to bring. summer is going to be lame- possibly taking a class, working, working out and getting ready for lax, etc. ...but as always, it will go fast.
so that is my life in a nutshell...and what perfect timing because i am off to eat lunch and probably procrastinate some more on midterm studying. happy wednesday!
