This is me attempting to write I love you in Russian phonetically, lol ;p
It's a fucking awesome day for my favorite set of siblings!
Dinara is world Number 1!It's been common knowledge for a while already that she's to assume the No. 1 position today but I didn't want to post about it until it was official! By reaching number one the Safins became the first tennis family to be ranked number one in the singles ranking!
I've said it a thousand times before but I can't help but go on about how much I freaking love her. Dina's honesty and drive and her willingness to work on becoming a better athlete and person are things I want to do/become, and at only 21 years old she's figured shit out much faster than I have, lol. I know she's having a tough time right now making results and winning tourneys but I also know that she can prove to everyone else that she is deserving of her spot, because I think she already does. <3
Marat's back in the Top 20 ya'll ♥
At the beginning of this year Marat was ranked in the 30s almost dropping to the 40s, and today's ranking sheet showed him to be number 20 ♥ I've been waiting for the sheets to be refreshed every Monday much like I've been doing with exam results, and I'm so ecstatic that Marat's making the grade!
Since Marat is Marat I can never tell when this will all explode on my face but you know what? I could care less because I love this man even if he were back in the challengers circuit and fighting his way back into the top 100. I know I give him a lot of shit for playing so half-assed most of the time but if he really wanted to let go he'd be ranked much lower than that! Aside from Roddick and Roger Marat's the only other former number 1 that's still in the top 20 with Carlos Moya and Hewitt in the 50s, so eff the haters.
And to make this a complete Safin loving post, here's another fantastic quote from Dina about her brother:
Safin is playing in the dusk of his career far from the top of the rankings at age 29, but Safina rejects all criticism that he could have done better over the years than the 2000 US Open and 2005 Australian Open title.
"You can think a lot but he could have also won no Grand Slam. I think he has achieved a lot."
Sometimes it's hard competing with Marat's biggest fangirl, especially when you try not to fangirl her as much as you do Marat! FLOVE THE SAFINS ♥
