Wow, so perhaps a few hints. Perhaps positive ones. Avoid this entry if you're not into mining the podcasts for clues to Season Four.

Juicy tidbits...let the discussion begin! )

Thanks for the recap and lifting a bit more of the worry about Kara! The whole resurrection thing would fit perfectly, and really, thinking about it, it would be kind of interesting to see that rebirth explored from a human (or super!human) POV to contrast/compare with the Cylon downloading.

I'm glad they went with the viper scene at the end - having them meet again while flying is perfect for them, with the idea of freedom, wings & cosmic dances (watch me get over-pretentious hehe). And it all fits with my Pilots/destiny obsession nicely. Of course, a meeting in Lee's room could have had interesting consequences too... *winks*

You're very welcome, so glad we can all share the relief! I've read a couple of post-finale interviews by Moore and he seemed a bit contradictory or ambiguous in his phrasing, but somehow I trust what he says on this podcast. "Resurrection" seems so clear.

So much word. We've already had Three do that "space between life and death" story arc, now I would love a human character resurrection. All those issues with monotheism vs. polytheism too...are the Lords of Kobol and the Cylon God the same divine force, or not?

Cosmic dances! Ah, perfect. I'm mired in academia, so you know I dig this kind of analysis. I could go on and on about the story parallels with the Odyssey or the Aeneid. :D

Oh wow, yes. *nods head* Kara as Aeneas leading the Romans fleet from the destruction of Troy the Colonies to a new home. However, I really hope that doesn't make Lee Dido...eep! LOL

I find the religious aspect fascinating as well. And Kara is the perfect character to explore it with, so I'm hopeful that's where the writers will take it. Her dealings with Leoben have certainly highlighted those issues and questions. And of course those issues and parallels are also pertinent to our current mess of a world...and hmm, will that be the Earth they're going to find?

OMG I LOVE YOU! I looove Kara-as-Aeneas. Going to the realm of death to talk to your parent and get key intel on future home. And Dido Lee, eep! That gave me uncontrollable giggles. But then I want to believe that even the gods ship L/K now, so I think Lee's safe. They're fated. :D

And hey, setting L/K aside for a moment (wow, can I do that?)...what if the whole "New Caprica" storyline was like the Carthage episode? The Trojans Colonials get tired and want to found their settlement there, but it isn't their destiny, and so they leave behind the Cylons and Dido-BoomerThree to curse the heavens and say "Our peoples shall be at war forever!"

I'm completely into the idea of exploring religion more on the show through Kara and not just Laura. She is the most religious Colonial, after all. And Lee? Total atheist. Headed for a big clash of ideas there, I'm sure. They can ( ... )

LMAO! Yep, that's my story too, and I'm sticking to it.. ;)

Ooh the Carthage part totally fits as well! False dawn as setback/test of character/worthiness of destiny. *geeks out* Going way back to 1978, I guess it's probable that Glen Larson used the Greek/Roman names and mythologies partly because he was taking his key from these texts. As well as Star Wars, of course...but then that's based on The Hero's Journey, too. Either way, RDM and co seem to have noticed and run with it, which is awesome for us. :D

Thinking about it, Kara and Lee have had soooo much to argue and angst and fall out over that they've actually barely touched on the differing religious viewpoints; but Kara's return is going to test Lee's atheism and bring it to the fore. However, as long as Kara doesn't become president and threaten Lee's democracy with religious visions like Laura did, love will conquer all, whee! :D

You know, I am enthralled by everything you are saying, but I have to admit that when I tried to read your reply I was completely distracted at first by your gorgeous Lee icon! Oh, goodness, it makes me want to pet Apollo through the screen. And then I see that you made it yourself--wow! So talented! I am a puddle of guh.

Ahem. Will wipe drool from mouth now, and continue to geek out. That's right up my alley! *points at interests list*

Fascinating...it makes sense that the mythic story pattern elements would be more strongly present in the BSG-verse, and it's cool that the new series retains that spirit. Giving us endless free rein to geek out every single episode, too. :D

they'd invite Lee and he'd drink some before he realized what it was and suddenly pop up in the Opera House visionspace with them and his mind would be blown.
Meanies! *pouts* ;-)

But yes. And you say you don't have any flair for crackfic? o.O

Well, I do think of a lot of wacky things to cheer myself up, and I live to snark, but BSG crackpoems are the only things I've actually produced. I suppose I never thought of my wishful thinking as crackfic source material, other than HeadKara! Hee. Might be worth doing.

Gosh, and now I want to make a Roslin icon that says "You're invited...to my Chamalla Tea Party." Giggly mood I'm in.

Why thank you! :D And I know what you mean - I cannot help but pause when I see Lee all naked and vulnerable.. But I think you trumped me with the TOWEL!! *grins*

But you know, one of my favorite daydreams is that Kara will have trippy chamalla tea parties with Roslin next season. And they'd invite Lee and he'd drink some before he realized what it was and suddenly pop up in the Opera House visionspace with them and his mind would be blown.

Oh my god, if they don't do this I'll be heartbroken! I can picture the scene so clearly in my head. And hey, RDM could use more of his trippy music...what's not to love?! *pokes show*

Sorry for jumping in, but I saw the words 'Lee' and 'Dido' and had to read on. *giggle*

I love the whole idea of Kara and Lee in conflict over religious views. One of my pet disappointments is that they haven't made more of Lee's atheism until now. I wanted it explored more overtly him him drawing away from Laura (and I think Jamie did too, judging from what he's said in interviews) and I am so excited that Season 4 could prompt a major crisis of belief for Lee.

Hey, of course you're welcome to the mytho-religious geekout party! Maybe we should make new journal entries just on that. :D

Yeah, I remember when I first read somewhere that JB considers Lee an atheist, suddenly tons of things clicked into place and it seemed so right in regards to how he'd been playing that character...yet it's been only a subtle background note in all three seasons. That's a really good point about how they could have made it a more overt factor in the process of drawing away from Laura. But then they could have given us a bit more of what was going on with Lee, period, in those post "Resurrection Ship" episodes...sigh ( ... )

Maybe we should! :-) (make a mytho-religious geeokout party post, I mean!)

*nods* There's a cut scene that touches on it, with Laura. Otherwise, you have to pick up on very subtle nuances--which Jamie's brilliant at putting into his performance, but if you're not really watching Lee closely, you'd miss them.

Probably Lee rationalized the tomb to himself, somehow, as a relic of past times. But how to explain seeing the stars?
*nods* I'm absolutely fascinated with that idea and how he would have processed that experience. It's certainly something I loved in your fic, and it's something I'd love more people (or, you know, the show!) to explore. So intriguing. He's rationalised it some how, that's for sure. But how?

Oooh, party post. How?

*nudge* You should also write a Lee / religion essay sometime!

Well, ideally we'd get a BNF-y person to make a party post. I kind of suck at them: some people have a real flair for getting people to turn up and party in their journal. But we could always give it a go! ;-) Maybe if we thought up a few questions/prompts about myth/religion in BSG, we could get a meta party on... I definitely have people on my f'list who'd be interested. I think we'd just need some starting points.

As for Lee/religion, yes, I'd love to write that essay! Though I really REALLY must get my Lee/Kara/Destiny-OT3 essay written first. I've been drifting around LJ threatening to write that one since the finale...

??? Erm. I'm so clueless. I could definitely come up with some questions or prompts, though. Like are the Lords of Kobol and the Cylon god the same divine force, given what the Oracle told Three down on New Caprica, about both of them speaking through her? Is HeadSix really an angel from god, and if so, WTF is that god's agenda besides torturing Gaiuses? Our earlier question about Lee and how he rationalized the Tomb of Athena experience...also apply that to Adama: how much does he buy into the scrolls of Pythia right now? Does he trust Laura's visions at all? See how easily I blather! And not a single question about Kara, my primary obsession. ;) And that's not even getting into Greek/Roman mythology stuff.

Lee/Kara/Destiny-OT3 essayMuh! Must have ( ... )

BNF=Big Name Fan (apologies if you either already know this and I'm assuming ignorance, or didn't know this and I was previously assuming knowledge)

Your questions are awesome! How about I start a list, email it to you to add to, and then I post them for discussion? Hopefully it'll get pimped/linked to on galactica_news and then other people will mosey on over...

Ohhh, you should be VERY proud of your productivity! That is very exciting! *twirls*
