It was fun to discover a handmade postcard from viedma in the box this morning.

Just a little snack for later on ... - Maple and Filbert are making a salad. The look of determination (and use of a paw to stabilize the lettuce) as they haul their haul through the office are great!

Well, colour me pissed.
Because ACME was out of copy paper, I placed an order for a day I'd be in, came in early and prepared to spend a long day waiting for the delivery. About 30 minutes in, there was a robo-call from Office Depot about the shipment being damaged, they'd get a new one out. I called CS immediately only to spend eons on hold before getting a human. According to him, the order had been delivered the day before! I put him on hold and looked around (the damn sallyport walls make it impossible to see the entire lobby anymore) and there were a couple cases of paper, but not the entire order. I filed a formal complaint about them disregarding a scheduled date, as it was pure coincidence that someone must have been in the lobby when it was delivered, and cancelled the missing cases of copy paper. We're not going through it that fast just now, and I can reorder later on, when hopefully they'll pay attention to the scheduled delivery date. I was less than thrilled by the whole thing; I couldn't escape early, but at least I didn't face the prospect of hanging about the office until 5:00 pm!

Engaging animals to make any day better

Because I anticipated potentially being at the office forever waiting for that delivery, I'd brought in some laundry - however, Em3 came in early, and then another manager showed up, so I didn't get stuff in the machines until late morning. Happily, I had enough work to keep me busyish but not overwhelmed until the clothes were dry.

Authorial choice are interesting - I'm reading a long (reasonably decent though tropey as hell) HP AU, and for some reason the author decided that Blaise Zabini is French. It's not dwelt upon in depth, but mentioned more than once. I mean, he could be, but given the name, and how often he's written as having Italian heritage, it was a surprise.

Question of the Day
What do you think the world will be like in 100 years?
unless humanity gets its act together, it'll be hotter, drier (or flooded, depending on where you are), with less arable land and more climate refuges

Listening to my 80s YT playlist, I was enjoying Thomas Dolby's Europa And The Pirate Twins (I do love that song) when the lyric "father travelled, hers as well" struck me. I'd not really ever paid attention to it, I know what it means, but it suddenly hit me that it wasn't a particularly American turn of phrase. Am I wrong? Does everyone (USian) know what it refers to?

Great cat memes - # 24 is especially relatable

The Lincoln Project offers special thoughts - Celebrate
On Donald Trump's birthday, let's remember all of the people who didn't get to see theirs this year.

I've never cared that much about bingo, but this sounds like a fun evening - the collaboration between members of NSYNC & Backstreet doing some greatest hits from both groups should be fabulous, regardless of your ability to fill your bingo sheet. Bingo Under the Stars - But regardless of whether you yell out “Bingo!” you’ll walk away a winner thanks to an evening-ending performance from the Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter and AJ McLean alongside *NSYNC’s Lance Bass and Joey Fatone (the collaborative performance promises fan-favorite tunes from both groups).

acme, mail. meme, political stuff
