It's been a rather interesting week here yet again. With convention season right around the corner I've been really ramping up my time spent working on costumes - not only for myself but for my friend Ashley. That's not to say I spend ALL my time on my days off sewing and painting, far from it in fact. But I am spending a bit more time dedicated to that endeavor.
Mom often wonders why I don't share with her as much as I used to regarding things I like to do and places I've gone. After the conversation we had over a dress the other night, I think she's beginning to understand why.
I was in my room and happened to be sitting on the floor working on the pattern for Ashley's costume. Mom came in and we were talking when she saw the new gothic lolita dress I had hanging up in my closet. It was a gift from Mandy since she it didn't fit her and she couldn't resell it and I loved it. It's a gorgeous Metamorphose dress with frills and lace and fits like a dream. Knowing my mother, I didn't share the dress with her because I knew she's make some kind of comment on it - which she did. She called the dress "silly" and "you really wouldn't wear this out, would you?". That really hurt my feelings and I think when she saw the look on my face, Mom realized what she had done.
It's getting harder and harder to find 'safe' topics to talk about since out interests keep drifting further and further apart.
